We saw this pot and flowers at our neighborhood train station in Nanai. We are one stop past Mashiko.

I can't understand anything on the poster, except Mashiko.

David Irish and friend (David is going to go up th Sheridan to study with Tony) are staying at Furuki-sans. David and I think Tony should bring a bunch of students to Furuki's and make pots in Mashiko.

Kamia Shoichi (known as "Sho-chan" at the workshop) was groomed to become the foreman at Shimaoka's workshop. He began as a craftsman, but later asked to be "let go" to become an independent artist. This isn't done too often. When a person starts, they are either a craftsman Shokunin or an apprentice Deshi. Kamia's work is one of my favorites of the work of our teacher's students.

Kamia appears to take glowing pots out of the Dogima. Maybe to oxidize them. This is a photo at his exhibition.
